Citroen takes sixth Manufacturers’ World Championship title

LOEB in the winning Citroen C4 WRC

During the 2010 Rallye de France in the FIA World Rally Championship series, Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena drove their car to victory. Citroen accomplished a 1st, 2nd, 3rd position to make an all Citroen podium finish.

Sébastien Loeb noted “My first world title will always remain the best for me, but this one will have a special place in my heart. We won it after a very difficult race. It’s quite simply mind blowing to cross the finishing line in my home town, and it’s incredible to see so many people. I don’t think we’ve ever seen so many spectators at a rally.”

Citroen GT Will Be Produced

Good news from Geneva. Vincent Besson, the executive director of Citroen, announced that they will produce the new Citroen GT concept. Right now they’re thinking of making a limited series of only 20 cars.

The car was first presented last year with a series of teasers, and later was presented at the Paris Auto Show, where it was appreciated by many. This supercar has 4.96 meters in length, 2,08 meters in width and 1.09 meters in height.

The specs of the Citroen GT are not known yet, but it will probably have the V8 engine from Ford.

Citroen Will Use BMW Engines

Citroen announced that in the next few years the company will implement BMW petrol engines on the new models they will launch.

The 1.6L BMW engine was initially developed for MINI and it’s available in versions with 120HP, 150HP and 175HP. Peugeot is already using it on the 207 and 308 models.

Citroen also intends to use more powerful BMW engines. There is no confirmation yet on the models that will get these engines, but specialists tend to think that the Citroen C5 will be one of the pioneers.

By using BMW engines, Citroen can meet their objective of saving fuel, as well as using the stop-start technology for all its future models.

Citroen C4 By Loeb

Taking advantage of their success in the French WRC Championship, Citroen presented recently the C4 by Loeb special edition model. The car is based on the Coupe facelift version. There are a number of both interior and exterior elements that make this model different from the rest, and it’s available in both diesel and petrol versions.

There are two colors to choose from for the Citroen C4 by Loeb: Red Aden and Perla Nera.

The Citroen C4 by Loeb is built on the basis of the VTR equipment version, with some extra options. Prices vary from 21.100 euros (for  the VTi/120HP) to 24.700 euros (for the HDI/140HP).
